Teaching Experience
1996-2005 Associate Journalism Faculty Member, Indiana University-Purdue University, Fort Wayne--Fort Wayne, Indiana.
2006-Present Associate Journalism Faculty Member, Indiana University-Purdue University, Indianapolis--Indianapolis, Indiana.
Philosophy of teaching
I believe in challenging students to be exceptional writers and reporters. I want them to take journalism seriously and work hard at strengthening their skills. I believe the cornerstone of all good writing and reporting is knowing AP Style. All great articles start with proper style, no exceptions. I expect my students to work hard, have fun and learn a lot along the way.
Work in progress
I am currently writing three books, two non-fiction thrillers and one children's book about my white miniature schnauzer, Charlie. The hard part is finding time to turn hundreds of bullet points into real chapters. I enjoy writing and need to spend more time doing it.

Professional Development
In 2009, I plan to enter the Media Management Graduate Program at the University of Missouri School of Journalism.
Personal Interests
My family consists of my wife, Jessica, and our two dogs, Tiger and Charlie. I enjoy playing golf, darts, cornhole, basketball and whiffle ball. One of life's simple pleasures is a sunny day sitting on the first-base side at Victory Field enjoying baseball, the company of good friends, a hot dog with mustard, ketchup and relish; a bag of barbecue potato chips and an ice-cold beverage.
