Features Picture Editor: Coordinate all aspects of photography for the features sections, from conception through final presentation. Train photographers and produce multimedia presentations for IndyStar.com. Photograph special projects.

2003 America 24/7 Photographer: Participated in the America 24/7 book project. My photographs were published in the following books: America 24/7, Indiana 24/7, Dogs 24/7 and Cats 24/7

1998-2005 The Indianapolis Star
Assistant Picture Editor: Mentor stringers and teach them, as well as staff writers and editors effective caption writing. Primary picture editor for three zoned editions. Coordinate picture sharing between papers and news agencies.

Graphics Assistant (Paraprofessional): Created an archiving system and worked with computer experts to design and implement an electronic graphics request form. Designed pages, stylized graphics, created daily budgets and kept track of monetary budgets.

1997-1998 Schmidt Associates Graphic Artist: Designed magazine layouts to win bids for new building projects. Created marketing ideas to draw attention to the company.

Page Designer/Copy Editor: Designed news and features pages which included headline and caption writing, copy editing, as well as picture editing.

Staff Photographer: Cover daily assignments including sports, spot news, features, general news illustrations and special projects. Duties also include film processing, printing, scanning and color toning. Regular contributor to the Associated Press.

I want to equip students with the skills they need to succeed in the ever-changing newspaper business as well as teach them some life skills along the way.
